They ran for a while then stopped at a field, William had to run across the field three times before the kite took flight (Fradin 5). When the kite took flight Franklin took the kite immediately from William. They ran to a shed and waited for the lightning to come. The pair was both excited and scared when Franklin held the string (Fradin 5). With the help of William the pair was answering the age old question is lightning and electricity the same thing. Franklin believed the electricity in thunderclouds could ca use lightning. The metal wire at the top of the kite would attract the lightning, then the lightning would run down the wire to the metal key trapping the electricity in a bottle (Fradin 6). The experiment was super dangerous because at any time the lightning could kill them both. The lightning flashed nearner so Franklin touched the key to see a spark but there was nothing. Finally the storm was overhead and suddenly they both held their breath (Fradin 6). A black cloud swallowed the cloud and Franklin touched the key, nothing. Suddenly he felt a tingle, shocks like the ones from his lab. A spark zoomed down the string and with each others help they proved lightning was electricity (Fradin 7). The pair was not done, Franklin took out the bottle from under his coat. The jar was a Leyden Jar built and used to store electricity. Franklin pressed the key to the bottle and the lightning flowed into the jar, then they reeled the kite in (Fradin 8). News had spread fast and Franklin became famous for catching lightning in a bottle. He was not satisfied just yet, he wanted to make electricity less dangerous. He invented a lightning rod, it was a metal rod that was fixed at a top of a building (Fradin 9). At the end of 1752 multiple buildings used a lightning rods and Franklin became a famous inventor. He was showed with medal and called a wizard. His friends laughed at such talk and Franklin knew he was no wizard just brilliant (Fradin 10, 11) . From catching lightning to being an inventor he was soon to believe he was a rebel too. When Franklin thought something was write he fought till the end. By Christmas 1764 Franklin was in London, when England had a new king, King George III. He believed the young monarch would be sympathetic and Franklin ended up staying in England for ten years. Franklin had barely been back at home when the British Parliament had passed the Stamp Act (Freedman 40). The colonists would now have to buy British Stamps, which they did not object too. Later riots ended up breaking out because of the Stamp Act. Demonstrators threatened to seize and destroy the hated taxed stamps (Freedman 40). The day the Stamp Act took effect not a single American tax collector was in business. In London, Franklin put all his effort into trying to get the Stamp Act repealed. He was busy at all hours talking with members of the Parliament (Freedman 41). He never stopped trying to repeal the Act, he started putting articles in the newspaper. He always argued that his country men would never accept the Act. He prepared for a long time because he knew that he was going to be summoned to appear before the British House (Freedman 41). Franklin answered a total of one hundred seventy-four questions and he was on his feet for four hours. Analysis Of The Play Fences By August Wilson Essay

The play â€Å"Fences† by August Wilson shows the struggle of an African American family set in 1950’s in Pittsburgh. The man of the house Troy has had a troubled life and even spent 15 years in prison. Even though Troy moans and groans about not making the MLB because of his race he is against his own son receiving a football scholarship and tells his son’s coach he’s not allowed to play even though a scout was planning on watching him. Even after pronouncing his love for his wife earlier in the play it is revealed that Troy has betrayed his own wife and has a child out of wedlock. Not long after Rose accepts Troy’s baby Raynell as her own Troy forces his son, Cory out of the house. Cory wouldn’t leave until after an argument forces a physical altercation between himself and his father. Eight years later Troy passes away and Cory comes home for the funeral and attends the funeral after some convincing from his mother Rose. Even though Troy g rew up with adverse conditions they do not excuse his actions of having causing your child to miss opportunities, extramarital affairs, and objectifying his wife, this makes Troy a bad father and husband. I’m aware that these goals will take time, and there are many obstacles that I will have to face during the process. My first long term goal is to own a Salon and Spa. Since I was a young girl I have always had a passion for doing hair, and make-up. My creativity allowed me to try different styles on people. I began to do hair out of my house, and I noticed the number of clients I had doubled. Research and networking with different Salon owners motivated me to want to own a Salon. There is hard work that is invested into owning a business. I have to first educate myself on how to begin the process of owning a Salon. This is the main reason why I enrolled into the Business Management Course at Cardinal Stritch. I plan to succeed academically, in order to accomplish this long term goal. I know I will have to stay focused at home and school. I will spend less time watching TV, and hanging out with friends. There will be more time dedicated to completing all PERSONAL GOALS AND MISSION 3 my assignments, and participate in each and every class. I plan to ask for additional help from my instructors on work that is a challenge for me. There will be times where I think this course is a bit too much, but I have decided that no matter how hard the process gets I will stay focused. I work full time to support myself, and now school I can honestly say my plate is full with important responsibilities. Time management is a skill I must work on. I always say to myself I wish there were more hours in a day. That statement proves I lack time management. Planning my day and following through with it, will allow me to get more task accomplished. Life happens and random things may occur where I might get side tracked. Ifl try my best to stay on track I know this plan will never fail. Buying my first home is my second long term goal. I believe this decision is one of the most important choices you can make in life. You have to plan accordingly, and save money. Achieving this goal may take ten years or even longer. Before I begin the home buying process I  ·first have to work through essential considerations, like my objectives. I would consider accommodating my family members, right size square footage and cost ofliving space to my budget and lifestyle. Establishing my financial foundation is a short term goal during this process. I must boost my credit score first, by paying off old debts, boosting my income, and pay all my bills on time. This may be done if I manage my money correctly, and limit my spending on unnecessary things. Making this major decision will inquire some assistance, so I will definitely need to find a great Realtor. That person would guide me through the steps to buying my dream home. My last long term goal is to start a family. I am extremely close to my siblings and parents. Our relationships are very important to me. I was raised in a home with three sisters and one brother. There seemed to always be some activities occurring in the house. We enjoyed PERSONAL GOALS AND MISSION 4 discussing our days, doing homework together and even being silly around one another. I had several friends who were born to broken families, so they spent most of their free time at my house. I believe my parents did an amazing job raising me. I value life and appreciate everything they have done for me. The same morals and values my parents taught me I want to teach my children one day. Marriage is a must before I have a baby. I am currently in a relationship with my best friend. We complement each other in every way possible. He is my number one supporter, and I see myself spending the rest of my life with him. This relationship is important because we have to want to the same things as far as children before we say â€Å"I do. † I feel it is important to be financially stable and prepared before a family is started. I expect different obstacles to stand in my way, which you can never be ready for each and every one. Being a critical thinker and great problem solver will allow me to find solutions to these road blocks. I have an incredible partner who strategizes with me to solve issues we are faced with.
